AECOM will act as the Delivery Partner for the Eglinton Crosstown West Extension project. This extension spans 9.2 kilometres, connecting the forthcoming Eglinton Crosstown Light Rail Transit (LRT) from the future Mount Dennis Station to Renforth Drive.
Upon completion, this initiative will establish a seamless rapid transit line that runs from Scarborough through midtown Toronto and extends into Mississauga.
Earlier this month, Metrolinx awarded another significant $290 million design-build package to Canadian Contractor Aecon to deliver the 1.5km Elevated Guideway stretch of the project.
Eglinton Crosstown West Extension – About the Project
The Eglinton Crosstown West Extension is set to expand rapid transit accessibility in Etobicoke and Mississauga, simplifying daily commutes for residents.
The new light rail line will span 9.2 kilometres (map below), mostly underground, apart from the 1.5km elevated guideway between Scarlett and Jane stations (blue line on the map).
Upon completion, the Eglinton Crosstown LRT will link the future Mount Dennis LRT station to Renforth Drive and establish an uninterrupted rapid transit route from Scarborough, traversing midtown Toronto and extending into Mississauga.
This extension integrates with various local and regional transit options, enhancing travel efficiency. Connections to UP Express and GO Transit rail services, TTC bus services, and MiWay and GO Transit bus services along the 18-km Mississauga Transitway will provide faster and more convenient travel routes.
