The Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario (CHEO) is a leader of excellence in pediatric care, pioneering research, and nurturing education.
Situated in Ottawa, CHEO encompasses a comprehensive spectrum of vital healthcare components, including a hospital, a children’s treatment centre, a dedicated autism program, a mental health agency, an educational institution, and a revered research institute, complete with satellite services strategically located across Eastern Ontario.
The visionary 1Door4Care: CHEO Integrated Treatment Centre will merge seven distinct care facilities dispersed across Ottawa into a unique bespoke-built site on CHEO’s main Smyth Road campus.
This transformative initiative will enable a series of upgrades and enhancements to CHEO, including:
- A versatile clinic area accommodating diverse needs;
- A physiotherapy rehabilitation gym;
- An expanded array of mental health clinics,
- Bespoke designed indoor and outdoor spaces to allow seamless integration between education and therapy areas;
- Secure rooms tailored for children and youth grappling with complex emotional needs;
- State-of-the-art treatment chambers catering to behavioural requirements,

Following the shortlist of 3 candidates for the Request For Proposal (RFP) phase in November 2022, IO and CHEO reached their final decision to select EllisDon Infrastructure Healthcare (EDIH) consortium as the preferred bidder.
