The Innovation Next+ design-build team, a JV led by Walsh and Turner Construction, has been chosen for the Dallas Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) Terminal F Concourse and Skylink Station Project.
Initially slated for 24 gates, the project was trimmed down to 15 gates in May 2023 and will be built on the southwest side of the airport, adjacent to the Express South parking lot.
The new Terminal F Concourse at DFW Airport
The $855 million project aims to develop a new concourse building and associated Skylink Station infrastructure on the Terminal F site at Dallas Fort Worth International Airport (DFW).
The new double-loaded concourse building is expected to cover nearly 400,000 square feet, featuring aircraft parking on both sides. Construction of Terminal F is set to begin in June 2024, with an operational target for the second quarter of 2027.
Some of the terminal key features are:
- Number of Gates: Originally planned for 24 gates, the project was downsized to 15 gates in May 2023.
- Location: Situated on the Southwest side of the airport, adjacent to the Express South parking lot.
- Design: The concourse building features a rectangular design with gates on two sides, deviating from the crescent shape of existing terminals.
- Amenities: The project promises “state-of-the-art facilities and amenities,” which include modernized baggage handling, expanded concessions, and additional passenger gates.
The new Terminal F Concourse at DFW Airport - Innovation Next+ design-build team
Innovation Next+ is a collaboration that includes The Walsh Group – Walsh Construction & Archer Western, Turner Construction Company, Phillips May Corporation, H. J. Russell & Company, and CARCON INDUSTRIES. The design team members consist of PGAL, Gensler, and Muller2.
In a design-and-build contract, the Contractor typically takes responsibility for both the design and construction phases of a project, resulting in a substantial transfer of risk from the Owner (i.e. DFW Airport) to the Contractor (Innovation Next+).
