The Nordex Group has secured an order from Capital Energy to supply and install 18 N163/5.X (106MW) turbines designated for the Las Mareas I & II wind farms located near Mequinenza in the province of Zaragoza (Spain).
This order marks Capital Energy’s seventh agreement with European turbine suppliers, totalling nearly 250 million euros for wind farms constructed in Spain. Aside from the Nordex Group, Capital Energy has signed three contracts with Siemens Gamesa and General Electric each.

About Las Mareas I and II
Situated in Mequinenza, Zaragoza, both wind farms are set to generate 300,000 megawatt-hours (MWh) annually, which will effectively cater to the electricity needs of approximately 115,000 households in Aragon and prevent the emission of around 111,000 tons of CO2.
According to Capital Energy, constructing Las Mareas I and Las Mareas II parks will create over 420 direct job opportunities during peak construction periods and ensure stable employment for 12 professionals from the area once the assets become fully operational.
The company estimates that these wind farms will contribute significantly to the GDP throughout their operational lifespan, amounting to nearly 1.2 million euros annually. Additionally, Capital Energy will make an annual tax contribution of more than 230,000 euros to local coffers starting from operational commencement.
Nordex’s Order Details for Las Mareas I & II wind farms
The order comprises 18 N163/5.X turbines belonging to the Delta4000 series. These turbines will be mounted on tubular steel towers with hub heights reaching 108 meters, equivalent to a 30-story building (photo below).
According to Nordex, the delivery of the turbines is scheduled for the first half of 2025, with commissioning planned for June 2025. Capital Energy has confirmed that the order encompasses maintenance services by Nordex for 20 years, ensuring the optimal operational performance of the asset.
