Hyundai Engineering & Construction Co., Ltd. (HDEC) has secured two significant contracts pertaining to the expansion of a petrochemical project at the SATORP refinery in Jubail, Saudi Arabia.

HDEC has been the successful tenderer in packages 1 and 4. Both packages were awarded under an EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) Turn-key basis (which includes testing and commissioning of the facility), and the total sum is approximately $5 Billion.

Under Package 1, HDEC will be responsible for installing a Mixed Feed Cracker (MFC), which will produce an additional 1,650 KTA (kilotons per annum) of ethylene and related industrial gases.

The scope of Package 4 involves the installation of utility facilities, including electricity and water supply, as well as other systems which will support all other packages.

Situated in Jubail Industrial City, approximately 70 kilometres northeast of Dammam, this ambitious project will position the new petrochemical complex as one of Saudi Arabia’s largest downstream facilities.

With a proven track record in Saudi Arabia, HDEC has successfully completed numerous projects, including those at the Khursaniyah Gas Plant and Uthmaniyah Gas Plant, showcasing its capabilities and expertise.

HDEC has been in the Saudi Arabian market since 1975, when it established a significant presence by securing a historic deal for the industrial port in Jubail, situated along the Arabian Gulf coast.
