CoreWeave, a rapidly growing cloud provider specializing in GPU-accelerated workloads for artificial intelligence and high-performance computing, has announced a multi-billion-dollar investment to develop a new AI data center campus in Pennsylvania. The delivery of this large-scale project will be led by a joint venture between Turner Construction Company and Wohlsen Construction Company.

It is understood that The Turner-Wohlsen JV will manage the full lifecycle of the project — from preconstruction and procurement to construction management — ensuring delivery of one of the most advanced AI data center campuses in the region. The facility will significantly expand CoreWeave’s national infrastructure capacity, supporting increasing demand for generative AI, machine learning, and visual effects rendering services.

The New AI Data Center Campus in Pennsylvania – Project Details

CoreWeave’s new AI data center campus in Lancaster, Pennsylvania is a major strategic investment in AI infrastructure, beginning with an initial 100 MW of IT power capacity, with plans to expand to 300 MW. This substantial threshold places it among the largest purpose-built AI data centres in the Mid-Atlantic region.

 Key features include:

  • High-density compute halls designed for next-generation GPU clusters

  • Tier III+ reliability, with redundant power and cooling systems

  • Modular, phased layout allowing scalability from 100 MW to 300 MW

  • Sustainable infrastructure, including energy-efficient cooling and Pennsylvania’s low-carbon power mix

  • Strategic energy & network access, leveraging eastern PA’s robust power and connectivity advantages

Contractor Partnership Brings Deep Data Center Expertise

Turner Construction, one of the largest construction management firms in the U.S., brings extensive experience delivering mission-critical and hyperscale data centers, such as Meta’s $800M Data Center in Jeffersonville – Indiana. Its joint venture partner, Wohlsen Construction, is a Pennsylvania-based builder with over 130 years of regional construction expertise. Together, the Turner-Wohlsen team is positioned to meet CoreWeave’s aggressive timeline while maintaining strict quality, safety, and sustainability standards.

Whilst details have not been disclosed, it appears that the project delivery model includes early contractor involvement (ECI) features, where the Turner-Wohlsen team is engaged during design and planning to support constructability, cost control, and schedule optimization. This collaborative approach is designed to align technical requirements with on-the-ground delivery realities — critical for the complexity and scale of AI infrastructure development.

Boosting Local Economy and Workforce

Beyond expanding CoreWeave’s compute capabilities, the project is expected to generate substantial local economic benefits. Turner-Wohlsen has committed to partnering with local subcontractors, unions, and workforce development organizations to support job creation, training, and community engagement throughout construction.
