Canadian Solar Inc. has announced that e-STORAGE, a division of its majority-owned subsidiary CSI Solar Co., Ltd., has secured Battery Supply Agreements and Long-Term Service Agreements (LTSA) for two major battery energy storage projects in the United States.

These projects are being developed by Aypa Power, a company focused on advancing energy storage and hybrid renewable energy solutions.

Apya Power - BESS Projects Details

Aypa Power specializes in the development, ownership, and operation of utility-scale energy storage systems. The company is committed to reducing reliance on fossil fuels and improving grid reliability while supporting the transition to renewable energy.

Since launching its first energy storage project in 2018, Aypa Power has expanded its portfolio to over 22 GW of projects in development, with 33 projects currently under construction or in operation across North America.

The new BESS projects and Contract Details

The agreements cover the supply and commissioning of two large-scale Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS):

  • A 160 MW AC / 806 MWh DC BESS in California.

  • A 200 MW AC / 998 MWh DC BESS in Texas.

These projects will incorporate approximately 370 SolBank 3.0 units, with construction scheduled to begin in Q3 2025. Following testing and commissioning, it is understood that e-STORAGE will manage system maintenance and operations under a 20-year LTSA, ensuring optimal long-term performance.
