Tennessee Titans – Stadium Project Details

The new stadium will be built on the eastern portion of the current stadium campus, situated along Nashville’s East Bank. The new structure will include several notable features, such as:

  • A circular translucent roof that allows natural light to filter through.
  • Exterior porches will provide sweeping panoramic views of Nashville, enhancing the spectator experience.
  • The implementation of diverse seating arrangements will improve sightlines for all attendees.
  • An impressive 12,000 square feet of community space will be accessible year-round.

The new facility will be enclosed, enabling year-round event hosting, irrespective of weather conditions. This strategic move is expected to amplify the local and regional economic impact significantly.

Furthermore, the enclosed configuration contributes to the building’s sustainability by safeguarding the interior bowl from the elements (The roof will not feature a retractable design).

Anticipated to break ground in the early-to-mid stages of 2024, the new stadium is scheduled to open its doors to the public in 2027.

About the Tennessee Builders Alliance (TBA) JV

The Tennessee Builders Alliance (TBA) will oversee both preconstruction and construction management services throughout the stadium’s development and delivery phases. The TBA JV is formed by the following. Companies:

  • C.F. Builders,
  • Polk & Associates,
  • Turner Construction Company, and
  • AECOM Hunt

The TBA JV will be actively engaged in the selection process of trade contractors who will contribute to the project’s realization. The team’s collective experience surpasses 55 years in the realm of NFL stadium construction.

Turner and AECOM Hunt have demonstrated their expertise by successfully collaborating on 17 of the 30 most recently completed NFL stadium projects.

John Gromos, Principal-in-Charge of the Tennessee Builders Alliance, expressed excitement regarding collaborating with the Tennessee Titans, the city of Nashville, and the Metro Sports Authority. Tennessee Titans – Stadium Project - Construction Management Contract Details

The contracting methodology used is the construction management at risk (CMAR). In this approach, the Construction Manager (in this case, TBA) ensures that the project will not overcome a pre-established cost limit, also referred to as the Guaranteed Maximum Price.

Tennessee Titans will lead the procurement process to select the firms that will oversee the design and construction of the stadium with the support of TBA members.

Among many pros, Construction Manager agreements are known for the following advantages:

  1. Early Expertise: The early Involvement of the construction manager from the project’s outset ensures valuable insights into design, materials, and costs.
  2. Budget and Schedule Control: The Construction Manager is incentivised to monitor costs and timelines to avoid exceeding budget and project delays.
  3. Integrated Risk Mitigation: Identification of risks early on and collaborative solutions to prevent disruptions.
  4. Accountability and Collaboration: Enhanced collaboration among stakeholders, with the construction manager taking responsibility for successful project delivery.

In the forthcoming months, the Tennesse Titans will present the further details and the final contract for the Tennessee Builders Alliance (TBA) services to the Sports Authority. The presentation will take place during an upcoming board meeting for consideration and approval.
